An extra day off during the holidays would boost morale amongst the DOD civilians and perhaps offset their disappointment of not receiving pay raises in 2011 - 2013 while the military continued to received raises. Additionally, in 2014 and 2015, both the military and civilian workforce only received 1% pay raises. Although the military is the backbone in the defense of our nation, the civilian force plays a critical role in keeping our nation safe. As deserved, military members, mission permitting, should receive this day off as well. This gesture would reinforce the appreciation our Government leaders have toward our military and DOD civilian workforce.
