Declare Feb 14th National 1 Billion Rising Day to support the end of violence against women & raise positive awareness.

Created by L.E. on February 14, 2015

Ending violence against women is essential to the future of our country, families and economy.

On average, 1 rapist assaults over 100 victims and 1 in 3 women are beaten or sexually assaulted. 68% of sexual assaults go unreported for fear of discrimination and threats. Women aged 15-44 are more at risk from rape and domestic violence than from cancer, car accidents, war and malaria.

In the U.S., 40% - 70% of female murder victims are killed by partners. 78% of sexual violence involves an offender who is a family member, intimate partner, friend, or acquaintance.

The U.N. estimates this to cost the U.S. $12.4 billion per year. This crime and losses are 100% preventable through education including young boys and men and the healthy awareness of a nationally declared 1 Billion Rising Day.
