The President should declare & work towards the ambitious goal of making the United States simultaneously the most business-friendly and least corrupted-by-business nation in the world. The measure of our success would be our rank on both the World Bank's "Ease of Doing Business Index" and Transparency International's "Corruption Perceptions Index".
This goal is one that:
- politicians & citizens of all political orientations could unite around;
- would give us a clear agenda of specific, measurable steps to take;
- would have significant, visible, lasting effects on Americans' economy, quality of life, & trust in their government;
- would demand & inspire participation from all levels & branches of government.
