More and more conservative voices are calling for states to secede from the United States and form new nations with conservative governments- simply because they disagree with the outcome of an election. Secession is both unconstitutional and treasonous. A democratic republic cannot survive when a large political faction refuses to abide by the outcome of elections that go against them. Secessionist rhetoric puts the very existence of our nation at risk. We, the undersigned, call on President Obama to forcefully reject secession and to pledge military response should any state rebel against the lawfully elected government of the United States.
