July 10 - Nikola Tesla was born on this day in 1856, in Smiljan, Croatia. Tesla was an inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and physicist, among other things, best known for his invention of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. He also either invented or paved the way for radar, remote control, wireless communication (yes, cell phones), transistors, radiography (X-rays) and countless other things. Tesla died in Room 3327 of the New Yorker Hotel on January 7, 1943. He invented everything that makes our lifestyle possible, and yet he is essentially forgotten, with not even a passing glance in history books. Make July 10 National Nikola Day!
