declare Licensed Professional Counselors/Licensed Mental Health Counselors as Independent Providers in Federal System.

Created by D.S. on December 11, 2013

Licensed Professional Counselors are not recognized as independent providers or Licensed Mental Health Counselors with in the federal system. We are educated, trained, and practice in psychotherapy, marriage and family therapy and many other facets of behavioral and mental health. Our schools are accredited and we are able to practice independently as civilians yet within the federal system in part due to the absence of Office of Personnel (OPM) series we are not considered for hiring and promotion in behavioral/mental health within the federal government. Obama stated, "That’s why we’ve poured an enormous amount of resources into high-quality care and better treatment for our troops”. This is untrue because LPCs/MHCs are resources ignored and kept from those in need.
