Besides the fact that there are shockingly few United States Federal Holidays honoring specific women in the same way that, say, President's Day does, Liza Minnelli is a artistic icon--nay, legend--who has inspired countless Americans, across gender, generational and socio-economic boundaries.
We petition that Liza Minnelli's date of birth, March 12th, be declared a Federal Holiday.
We believe that honoring her in this way sends two strong messages: 1) honoring a woman with a Federal Holiday would be a much necessary step forward for our nation; and 2) honoring Liza Minnelli now while she is still alive sends a strong message of our national gratitude.
