declare Lunar New Year Day as a public holiday so as to preserve & promote it & make it become part of US culture

Created by A.C. on February 21, 2014

Lunar New Year (LNY) is being celebrated in most Pacific Rim countries including USA. It is the responsibility of us, immigrants and descendants of immigrants, to preserve and promote the best of each culture, making it part of the great American culture.

LNY is for spring cleaning of the old & welcoming a new year of hope, health and prosperity; for family reunion paying respect to the ancestors, visiting the elders; shopping for new clothing and gift giving for the family, relatives and friends and tasting of delicious ethnic new year delicacies.

It promotes filial piety & respect of the elders and teachers. It has significant positive impact to the US economy.

LNY Day as a national holiday will allow children of all ages to be off school or work to carry out the above activities.
