March for Veterans is an idea started by two Army wives that saw two needs: 1) to raise awareness in the civilian population for Veterans and their needs 2) to raise awareness for organizations that help Veterans daily.
By dedicating the month of March to Veterans, Americans have a focus: "Serve those who have served." There are many ways to serve, including hosting events in local communities to bridge the two needs by providing a venue where citizens, Veterans and organizations can come together to become more aware of what they can do to give or receive help.
Most importantly, Veterans, particularly those out of the service, need to know that they are NOT forgotten. One day is not enough, and all citizens need to work together to serve those who have served.
