Declare Nancy Lanza, mother of Adam Lanza, was in part, responsible for Sandy Hook shooting by giving access to firearms

Created by R.R. on January 08, 2013

Absent from the public discussion about the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that left 20 children and 6 adults dead, is that Nancy Lanza, also a victim, was a lawful gun owner who did not secure her firearms when she reasonably knew, or should have known, that her son Adam Lanza was mentally unstable and presented a risk to himself and others as demonstrated by her attempts to seek mental health treatment for him.

Responsible gun owners know to secure their firearms, and instead of punishing those responsible gun owners for the acts of very few, there should be a discussion about how best to keep guns out of the possession of those who are mentally unstable, which includes securing firearms and identifying early on, those who should not be permitted access to firearms.
