Dear Mr. President,
I am petitioning the White House only after exhausting all other available options. Too many Americans, too long after the digital revolution, continue to put two spaces in between sentences when writing. It's time to end this abominable practice for good.
Now, putting two spaces in between sentences may be a grammatical, typological, aesthetic and ethical sin, but I do not believe it should be a crime. Those who participate in these lugubrious dealings are not monsters; they're merely sick, misguided and undereducated.
I propose the White House use its pulpit to declare a National One Space Between Sentences Day in order to find these wretched souls, take them into protective custody and give them the professional help they so desperately need.
