The NRA devotes millions of dollars to promoting the sale and purchase of lethal weapons in the United States. It opposes all restrictions on gun ownership and all regulations concerning gun safety, in disregard of the safety of civilians, and knowing that guns, including semiautomatic assault weapons, are likely to be used other than in legal self-defense. It promotes gun ownership to advance an anti-government, quasi-revolutionary ideology. The NRA's advocacy of violence for ideological reasons places Americans at an unreasonable and unacceptable risk of death.
