We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Declare a Newton Knight Day as a National Holiday

Created by C.E. on September 09, 2016

History long hidden should reach the light of day. As a citizen of the southern United States I want it known widely who Newton Knight was, what he did for the Union during the Civil War, and to demonstrate to the rest of our great nation that not all of the people in the south are racists. The Civil War was fought over the right of plantation owners to possess slaves, to own other human beings and to treat them in immoral and inhuman fashion and the country needs to know that it was not the entirety of the populace that agreed with or fought for this cause.
