declare "no confidence" on the IOC Executive Board for their recommendation to drop wrestling from the Olympics

Created by J.F. on February 13, 2013

The International Olympic Committee's 15-member executive board voted on February 12, 2013 to recommend that the Greco-Roman wrestling, the quintessential Olympic sport, be dropped from the 2020 Olympic program.

Making sure that the IOC does not drop wrestling from the Olympics is not enough. The IOC needs to replace its executive board. The decision to drop the oldest and one of the purest forms of sport from the Olympics, in order to please advertisers and television interests, is unexcusable and clearly shows that the current executive board of the IOC is not fit to run the Olympics. To drop Greco-Roman wrestling and keep BMX, table tennis, pentathlon, handball, and kayak is a disgrace to the tradition of the ancient and moderns Olympic games.
