Declare Oak Flat, AZ, sacred Apache holy place, a National Monument under Apache control, to prevent mining destruction

Created by E.C. on May 29, 2015

Oak Flat, AZ, public land belonging to citizens of the United States, is a sacred Apache holy place, this use predating existence of USA

Oak Flat has had special protections by the US government since 1955, when Pres Eisenhower decreed the area closed to mining.

Subsequently Oak Flat's irreplaceable Native American cultural value has been protected by Democrats and Republicans.

In December 2014 AZ Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake, secreted a rider into a military spending bill trading this sacred Native American land to a foreign-owned mining company (a donor to McCain, former lobbying employer of Flake) for mining use.

We must stop the permanent destruction of this sacred land.
