Declare Presidential Election Day a National Holiday.

Created by J.C. on January 21, 2016

Each election season we are told it is our "civic duty" to vote, and yet we, as Americans, live in one of only a few select countries where citizens sometimes have to choose between working and voting. There are millions of Americans, entitled to vote, who cannot get to the polls in time or at all because of their jobs. This is not a Democratic or Republican issue, this is an American issue, and declaring each presidential election to be a national holiday, where one does not have to choose between working and voting, will help strengthen our democracy as millions more Americans can exercise their constitutional duty to vote. Please declare this Presidential election to be a national holiday, and work with Congress to approve this day every four years as a national holiday.
