“No Person except a natural born Citizen…shall be eligible to the Office of President….” Article II, Section I, Clause V

“All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.” Amendment XIV, Section I

In August of 2013, Senator Cruz released his birth certificate to the Dallas Morning News; it shows that he was born in Canada to a U.S. citizen mother and a non U.S. citizen father, making him at birth via his mother a U.S. citizen by naturalization. See: Rogers v. Bellei, 401 U. S. 815 (1971)
