On February 4, 2016, the United States of America and the world lost Maurice White, founder of the great American band, Earth, Wind & Fire. President Obama, on his Facebook page, paid tribute to the legendary musician, stating that "only he could inspire generations of such diverse artists. And only he could get everyone – old and young, black and white – to let the groove move them on the dance floor." In the spirit of celebrating the life of Maurice White, and the great music of EWF that will live on forever, we the people petition the White House and President Obama to declare September 21, 2016 as National Earth, Wind and Fire Day, the date as made famous in one of the band's quintessential songs, September.
