Declare September as National Satire Month to honor the great tradition of satire as a form of social commentary.

Created by S.T. on January 16, 2015

From Samuel Clemens to Seth Rogan, satire is a time-honored tradition of examining the strength of ideas and the shortcomings of those ideas in practice. It can be rendered in art, word, song and motion. It is both an art form and a canary in the coal mine of liberty. This petition requests that the President declare September as National Satire Month so that, as young minds return to begin a new school year, they will do so with the anticipation of open intellectual debate in all its forms.
