Declare 'Stand Your Ground' a Federal law. Require all states amend laws to match Federal law.

Created by V.K. on December 21, 2012

To date, 21 states have adopted laws allowing citizens to protect themselves by use of force outside their homes. This is currently not a Federal law, which only allows deadly force if the perpetrator is within the confines of ones home, but it should be amended to have consistency between the federal and state laws. The federal law needs to recognize the necessity of an individual's right to defend himself, his family, or his property in a life-threatening situation.

Citizens carrying a weapon are educated and trained on its proper use. When peaceful resolutions are futile, only then do these citizens resort to deadly force to protect themselves from serious injury.

The law needs to be universal across the federal and state level for the protection of civilians from armed criminals.
