As the baby boomers now become our elderly, there is a real need for insurance coverage beyond medicare. Several of these people, due to the economy, are now living with their adult children. By broadening the definition of dependents in our health care system to include parents living in the same house hold of their children, we would be saving tax payers millions as they would not be relying solely on medicare. This would also save the elderly money by having another insurance to be able to help with medical expenses. As this country goes further into debt, this is a small but easy step to help with our economy and also to help our elderly.
