Declare Veterans Day a day off for veterans

Created by J.F. on February 25, 2014

Veteran's day has become a commercial holiday for sales and rebates. What was once developed in the concept to be a day to remember and honor those who have given and served this country has been forgotten. The unfortunate part is the ones who have given and sacrificed for this country are the ones forced to work on this day.

This proposal suggests that the White House and the US federal government makes it a federal law that employers be obligated to provide Veteran's Day as a paid day off, a very simple thank you. The requirements would be that the individual would have to be "Honorably Discharged" and would have to willing provide a copy of their DD214 or Certificate of Discharge to the employer' human resources in order to qualify. A simple thank you to those who have served.
