Dear Mr. President,
We petition your administration to expand the observance of the Veterans Day holiday to all employed U.S. veterans in the private sector as a paid holiday to thank them for their military service.
Each year, federal, municipal and state offices; as well as the post office, and most banks are closed in observance of Veterans Day. In some states, schools are closed in recognition of the holiday.
We ask that any veteran who would like to have the holiday as a day off should not be expected to use a vacation day from their employment package or "make-up" the work time at a later date but receive the requested day off with pay.
