The entire history of the X-men story has been for mutants to be included as humans with all the rights and privileges thereof. To deny X-men human status is to deny them the very thing they have spent 50 years fighting for. What does it say about that struggle when after 50 years not even their dolls are declared human. The X-men are surrogates for all groups of people wanting equal protection under the law. X-men are people. LGBTQ are people. American Samoans are people. The citizens of Guam are people. The color of your skin does not make you less of a human, so why should it matter how or where you were born, what religion you affiliate yourself with, or whom you choose to love? What does it say about the plight of equal rights if it's envoy can't even get proper legal attention.
