Marijuana must be declassified and legalized for many reasons, including the following: (1) extensive research into its health benefits and medicinal applications; (2) the enabling of desperately needed criminal justice reforms; (3) an end to illicit smuggling and dealing; and (4) economic stimulation and job creation. In light of successful state-level decriminalization of the growth, sales, taxation, and possession of marijuana, it only makes sense that the federal government declassify and legalize marijuana once and for all.
