Declassify judicial opinions from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court.

Created by J.G. on July 24, 2013

Transparency is a bedrock of our common law judicial system. Without transparency the system is robbed of its legitimacy. When judicial decisions are not open to public debate and criticism, the people cannot demand that laws be changed when they are interpreted counter to the will of the people. And our democracy suffers.

According to recent press reports, in 2009 the White House told the Senator from Oregon "that a process would begin to be created to start redacting and declassifying FISA Court opinions." But here we are four years later and no opinions have been released. We have a right to know how our laws are being interpreted. We petition the President to start declassifying opinions of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court with all due speed.
