decline any request from Italy to extradite Amanda Knox under Articles 5, 6, and 10 of the Italy-US extradition treaty.

Created by J.P. on May 01, 2014

Amanda Knox was acquitted of her accused crimes by an Italian Court in 2011. As an American citizen she is protected by the fifth amendment, "[N]or shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb in criminal or civil cases"

In addition, Article 6 of the 1984 extradition treaty with Italy provides, "extradition shall be denied when the person sought has been in jeopardy in the requested State for the same offense." This a clear and cut case in which an American citizen's rights are being infringed and We the People request the Obama administration ensure Amanda Knox's rights are observed.
