Peace Officers Memorial Day is May 15th. It is celebrated by law enforcement officers in the US. Washington DC hosts 'Police Week' which consists of events during the week. The two most significant events are the Candlelight Vigil (attended by the Attorney General) and the National Peace Officers Memorial Service (attended by the President).
These events are to honor officers who have given their lives in the line of duty. Given the statements and actions of both President Obama and Attorney General Holder regarding the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases, law enforcement officers across the nation believe the Administration is condoning the unjust, negative treatment they receive from the public
We request no one from the administration participate in any of the weeks' events .
