In March of 2012, former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora was convicted of racketeering and 32 other bribery- and corruption-related crimes and was given a 28 year sentence. currently being served in Victorville, CA. Dimora has recently petitioned the Obama administration to commute his sentence. I humbly petition the administration to decline his request.
In the short time since Dimora was arrested the citizens of Cuyahoga County have taken the steps needed to reform their government in order to provide transparency and support. Crimes against the taxpayer by elected officials should never be commuted, and commuting this sentence after only 3 years of time served would undermine the judicial process and the progress our communities have made in moving on.
