Approximately 20% of the expenditure of our entire nation goes to Defense, while our bright future is diminishing with our crumbling educational system and scientific research infrastructure. Our students and scientists are falling behind other countries, almost completely due to the lack of government funding that these activities require. At this point, our government spends only 5% Total on these important services and topics.
We, as americans understand the need for protection and the fulfillment of the daily requirements of our soldiers in war-zones. This petition is saying that the need for research and education somewhat overtakes our need for weapons and protection. If this petition gets fulfilled, our country will begin a new era of Prosperity and Enlightenment.
