Decrease the likelihood that felons will commit more crimes once their sentence has been served.

Created by D.T. on July 06, 2015

Once members of our society have fulfilled their sentences after a criminal conviction they should not have to continue to face punishment when seeking employment. To many employers use unrelated convictions that are sometimes decades old as reason to disqualify otherwise we'll qualified candidates. This increases the likelihood that ex offenders will not be able to find well paying jobs as they work to rebuild their lives. Background checks should only be used in cases where the criminal conviction is directly related to the position in question. A process should also be put into place to have national records sealed after a passage of time in a manner that will only allow them to be accessed only after the employer is able to show just cause.
