We are in a debt crisis and tough cuts need to be made in order to once again have a balanced budget. One of the many things that needs to be brought down to size is military spending. In 2000 we spent about 300 billion on defense in 2011 we spent 700 billion. Such spending is purely irresponsible considering the country to spend the 2nd most on their military, China, only spends 143 billion, and after that it drops even further to 71.9 billion for the third country, Russia. We don't have all this money to pump into our military and acting like we do will bring about our utter collapse like Soviet Russia before us. We do need a strong military but spending 2x more then our closest competitor is more then enough. Just ask yourself, is this spending worth it when we are 16 trillion in debt?
