There are many alternatives to oil, alternatives that are cheaper and cleaner. The petition of this petition is to get the government to invest in free energy technologies such as solar, wind, tidal, volcanic, geothermal, and thorium reactors. This research and development project would be similar to the Manhattan Project, employing over 100,000 people but for a much greater cause than the destruction of our foes. Benefits would be free and cleaner energy, the elimination or major reduction in oil dependency, and one less resource to fight over.
