Decrease spending and the deficit by changing the retirement system for Government leaders and law makers.

Our Leaders are eligible for a pension at age 62 if they completed at least five years of service. The member's retirement annuity currently may not exceed 80% of his or her final Salary, and is based upon the highest three years of salary. This petition requests the system to delete double dipping. Individuals should only receive a retirement for the position which paid the most during the individuals service. This petition also proposes the following: Each leader would be qualified for 12% of their highest three years of salary following four years of service; 24% following eight years of service; 36% following twelve years of service; 48% following 16 years of service; 60% following 20 years of service or more. 60% is the max pension for the military - make it the same for our leaders.
