Disability should be granted based on a pre-determined condition that a doctor corroborates. It should not take 3 years to obtain. Once the doctor signs off, it should be granted. You can then use the 3 years to investigate the doctors integrity.
The procedure now is non-medical and overly wrought with endless paperwork and denials based on the judgement of non-medically trained people. The decision should be in the hands of the doctors not the government workers.
If you have a disability based on the list from the US Government, and a Doctor confirms this, you should be granted disability (if you have worked and paid into it).
Fix the procedure. Three years with no money is devastating people as they lose their homes, cars, and everything they own while waiting.
