Decriminalize the act of squatting on both private and public properties and stop persecuting the homeless.

In the United States of America, we have many policies either directly discriminatory against the homeless, or allowing of private citizens to discriminate and deprive homeless of their basic human rights and necessities they need to survive, namely shelter. In the United States, the number of empty housing units are 18.4 million, while the homeless population is between 700,000 to 800,000. Many businesses in larger cities also place spikes on the sidewalk, and some parks have benches specifically designed to prevent someone from being able to sleep comfortably. Homeless people deserve to have housing, and if this land is so free, then why are they arrested for simply trying to sleep?
