Making drugs illegal makes them more dangerous. The drugs you get on the street are highly likely to be impure and therefore affect your health negatively. Making them illegal makes them more expensive so what do addicts who don't make $100,000/year do? Rob, steal, kill. Furthermore, there are many gangs who propagate violence in the drug trade. I'm not saying those gangs will disappear completely, but when you take drug profits out of their hands, there will be a lot less of them. Look at prohibition of alcohol. It only took America 10 years to come to their senses. Its been almost 100 years now and I am tired of America wasting billions in resources and manpower every year fighting something that has been part of every civilization for thousands of years. Think of the tax money!
