There are currently an estimated 45,000 inmates being detained due to marijuana related crimes. Each inmate, on average, costs $24,000 annually, which is over $1 billion dollars wasted. The United States current debt crisis, interior corruption, and failing economy, could be mended with the legalization of marijuana.
