For far too long...end users of drugs have paid the heavy price that was originally intended for violent drug trafficking organizations. Prohibition (of drugs) have not proven effective, leaving our prisons over crowded, out youth with destroyed lives (from background checks and employment discrimination), and excessive casualties from all perspectives of the issue (law enforcement, the community, and recreational/non-violent users of substances). It was not until Nixon took office that we had the "war on drugs". It is time to take a stand as a nation and unite our opinion on this long overdue subject. Decriminalization and ultimately full-on legalization, will reverse the negative effects regulation has had in this area of the law.
