The use, sale, and possession of cannabis (marijuana) in the United States is illegal under federal law. More and more states are going against this and Washington and Colorado have legalized recreational use of marijuana. Usage of Marijuana should be treated the same way as alcohol. It is in fact, less harmful than alcohol and should be legal for adults to use. It is time we remove this non harmful drug from the war on drugs and live in a peaceful society where minor offences such as the possession of minor amounts of cannabis go without jail sentences. The punishment does not meet the crime.
