decriminalize marijuana for medical and recreational use,stop the mexican drug cartels from reaping huge profits

to decriminalize marijuana,taking out of the class 1 drug status,because if thats the case then alcohol should definitely be there because more deaths are caused by alcohol than marijuana.the medicinal value of marijuana has been documented over and over..secondly, the revenue it would bring for the country and at the same time stop the mexican cartels from reaping huge profit from our ignorance.please be advised that our founding father george washington as well as thomas jefferson both had marijuana plantations. smoking marijuana was not a crime then,why is it now.what prompted the criminalization of a plant thats been used for thousands of years for not only medicine,but also hemp for clothing, rope,paper.of course the chemical companies dont want it legal .
