*Whereas there are 28 states that have created laws that define cannabis as having medicinal benefits;
*Whereas state laws should drive federal scheduling of medications;
*Whereas the federal government itself recognizes that cannabis has medicinal healing benefits via patent # 6630507;
*Whereas cannabis prohibition is causing harm to American citizens, particularly within vulnerable populations;
*Whereas President Obama has stated that continuing cannabis prohibition is untenable;
We the people therefore respectfully resolve that the President remove cannabis from the federal DEA schedule, and federally decriminalize the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes in all 50 states.
