Marijuana prohibition is unjust. Blacks and latinos are disproportionately targeted by police departments, landing them permanent criminal records that hurt their employment opportunities.
The White House claims its marijuana policy is based on science; they may be right that marijuana is not "benign." If so, neither is prohibition. It is an instrument of racism and a root cause of tension between police departments and the communities they supposedly protect.
