We urge the administration to decriminalize the service of prostitution. The USA can either look to our southern neighbors in Mexico and legalize equally at a state level or even begin as our northern neighbors in Canada who have specific regulations in place. At a minimum, the act of prostitution being made legal would cut down on incarceration rates and hopefully create a safer environment for sex trade workers. Without a fear of personal repercussions the women and men who are often beaten or abused while working can report the incident. Legalization would also allow regulations that could impact the rates of STDs and STIs that are contracted as a direct relation to prostitution. The US administration needs to take a progressive step forward and create a safer environment for the trade.
