Some take the position that illegal drug use provides money to terrorist groups. Prohibition of alcohol didn't work and money was made by criminals during prohibition. Marijuana should be decriminalized for both medical and recreational use. Grow businesses could be taxed as other producers are. Americans should have the right to use this harmless plant as they see fit. We should be permitted to grow our own or purchase commercially grown and packaged product the same way we can grow fruit and make wine if we have the skill and desire. Marijuana has been proved valuable in treating many medical problems not the least of which a safe gentle cure for cancer. There simply is no reason to continue to put non violent Marijuana offenders in prison at the taxpayers expense.
