The US government has spent millions and/or billions of taxpayer money on the never ending war on drugs. They have taken away the basic rights of citizens to determine what should be done with OUR bodies. They have arrested hundreds if not thousands of non-violent offenders on drug charges, sentencing them to years of incarceration, which turn them towards violent offenses. Years of their lives taken away which could have been spent helping them stop their use of drugs.
Marijuana is factually less harmful to the body than alcohol and this war on drugs is reminiscent of the days of Prohibition when criminal organization killed and threatened the lives of American citizens. To sum up, the war on drugs is pointless and should be stopped.
