deem AKC Therapy Dogs worthy of the same rights as Service dogs.

Created by B.H. on December 03, 2012

AKC Therapy Dogs are required to pass obedience tests with people, hospital instruments, and other dogs as well as complete a set amount of hours and visits to facilities prior to being awarded certification. AKC Therapy Dogs provide numerous services to humans such as students, disabled, elderly, children and even convicts. If these dogs are providing services all while having to go through proper training prior to receiving the AKC Therapy Dog title, then they too should be recognized with the same rights as Service dogs.
