Deer population control methods of the Fish and Game Commission

The excessive deer population in the United States is detrimental to the health of native species and the attempts to create sustainable agriculture. The current understanding of population control embraced by the Fish and Game Commission does not adequately address this issue, and may in fact be adding to this problem. Harvesting the older male deer population while allowing for multiple doe tags is opposite of proper population control considering the breeding habits of this animal. One male is capable of impregnating three females and currently we are attempting to eliminate the female population while neglecting the young males which are sexually mature well before legal harvesting is an option. I submit that there is a necessity for increased research and reevaluation of these methods
