Throughout history mankind has created systems to govern one another so that the majority is satisfied with the system in place. Governments today, including the U.S. have gotten far too big and citizens typically disagree with the majority of the outcomes even though we live in a nation of democratically elected officials.
Our founding fathers created the perfect system with states that governed themselves at the local level, but united us all as a single country. This gave people the option that if they didn't like how they were governed they could move. Less than 250 years after declaring our independence we have an inefficient, overreaching federal govt that tries to take care of everyone and occupies parts of the world we have no business in.
