defend U.S. nuclear policy before the International Court of Justice

On April 24, 2014, the Republic of the Marshall Islands filed an application at the International Court of Justice [ICJ] inviting the United States to defend its nuclear disarmament policy on the world stage. We ask the administration to accept ICJ jurisdiction in this case. The United States has nothing to fear from international law and we believe that the administration should be willing to make that case at the ICJ. Accepting the ICJ's jurisdiction will allow the United States to show that we are serious about the obligation of nuclear disarmament, that we have been complying with it in good faith, and that we hope that the other nuclear powers will join us in this effort to secure peace. We recognize the importance of the ICJ in ensuring all nuclear powers, including N. Korea, disarm.
